Just a single podium finish in two races is not enough for four-time Superbike champion Markus “Reiti” Reiterberger (Masteroil Alpha Van Zon BMW). Following the season opener at the Sachsenring, he’ll be taking on the EURO MOTO round in Brno this coming weekend under very different circumstances. A test session and some company make all the difference.

The 32-year-old from Obing still has some work to do with the BMW M 1000 RR and the Pirelli tires. But that’s exactly why the Bavarian was out testing on the track a week ago—the same track where the battle for the fastest lap times begins tomorrow. The 5.403-kilometer Autodrom Brno in northeastern Czech Republic will be the venue for the second event of the season from May 29 to 31.

A repeat of 2018?

“I have really good memories of this track. This is where I secured pole position in the Superstock 1000 class in 2028 and won the European Championship that same year,” says Reiterberger, looking back positively on the past few days. “During last week’s test, I was just as fast on the EURO MOTO BMW as I was on the bike from the Endurance World Championship. That makes me confident for the two Superbike races on Sunday. I’m slowly starting to understand how to ride this bike. Of course, I want to fight for wins in Brno, but Lukas Tulovic will be tough to beat there on the Ducati as well.”

Tulo had dominated at the Sachsenring and won both races on Sunday. But Reiterberger isn’t about to be outdone, and he knows he has a strong team behind him. His fan club is traveling with over 50 people and will provide the necessary motivation.
