A new project for the Freudenberg KTM-PALIGO Racing team. The Saxony-based crew from Bischofswerda is tasked with developing a racing package for the 2027 season for the Austrian manufacturer based on the new KTM RC 990 R. To this end, they have brought former MotoGP rider and IDM Superbike champion Jonas Folger on board and selected the EURO MOTO as the most demanding series.
“Over the past few seasons, we’ve had great success racing for KTM in the World Supersport Championship, and together we’ve continuously developed the RC 390 R into a championship-winning machine,” says team manager Carsten Freudenberg, looking back. “This is an excellent foundation for an equally successful project with the RC 990 R. With Jonas Folger, we also have one of the most successful German racers on our side—which makes this partnership all the more valuable.”
Competition conditions at the highest level
The Freudenberg team has been part of KTM for many years, like fire and flame. The ultimate goal of the current cooperation is to put together a powerful overall package including a comprehensive race kit. It is to be homologated for both the Motorcycle World Championship and national championships – and made available to interested teams.
Development work is scheduled to take place throughout the 2026 season. The team plans to make its first wildcard appearances in the EURO MOTO Supersport. These race entries are intended to provide additional data under competitive conditions and further accelerate development. The official kickoff will be a six-day test in Valencia in March.
