A championship title, an IDM runner-up finish—and there’s more to come. Although rumors of his retirement had been circulating, the truth is quite different. Florian Alt has extended his contract with Team Holzhauer Racing Promotion and Honda in Germany’s top motorcycle racing class for another two years. The 29-year-old spoke to idm.de about the details.
Last week, the team spent three days in Valencia testing parts. “It was very successful,” says Alt, who had to skip the IDM championship celebration as a result. “We couldn’t have waited any longer, because our new developments need to be in production by the start of the 2026 season. If we’d waited until January to test, we would have lost two months due to the holidays.”
The fact that he plans to be on the starting grid in 2027 is a major factor for Alt: “That’s when the new Superbike Honda will be introduced. I definitely want to be involved in developing it. It’ll be a weapon I want to use myself in competition,” says the North Rhine-Westphalia native, already convinced of the next evolutionary stage of the Honda Fireblade CBR 10000 RR-R. Agreements to that effect have been reached with Honda and HRC.
Florian Alt’s private construction project is also in full swing. The topping-out ceremony for his home is scheduled for as early as January. The accompanying garage is, as one would expect, disproportionately large. By the way, a follower asked on Instagram: Is this an “old” building or a “new” one? That’s something to think about.
