December 2025: Motor Presse Stuttgart announces the launch of a new motorsports series for Superbike, Supersport, and Sportbike

Motor Presse Stuttgart is launching a new motorsports series for Superbike, Supersport, and Sportbike in 2026

With the launch of EURO MOTO, Motor Presse Stuttgart will expand its motorsports portfolio starting in 2026. Building on the successful development of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM), EURO MOTO represents the logical next step in the advancement of European circuit racing in the Superbike, Supersport, and Sportbike classes. The goal of the new platform is to attract a more international field of competitors, increase visibility in relevant markets, and offer even more exciting and high-caliber races.
In recent years, the IDM has developed into a leading championship in terms of both competition and organization. The level of competition in the Superbike, Supersport, and Sportbike classes is at the top international level.

“The IDM has proven itself to be a springboard for talented riders with World Championship ambitions,” says series manager and founder Normann Broy. “With the EURO MOTO, we’re bridging the gap between the national championships and the World Championship. We are creating a platform where the best riders and teams from around the world can compete against each other.” With this move, Motor Presse Stuttgart aims to further enhance the international diversity of the starting grids, media visibility, and spectator appeal. The first round of the new championship will take place May 8–10, 2026, at the Sachsenring.

“The EURO MOTO will be a championship that brings motorsports to life—both at the track and through digital channels,” Broy continued. “By internationalizing the series, we are expanding its reach and appeal to teams, manufacturers, sponsors, and fans across Europe.” This evolution into an even more international championship is welcomed by all manufacturers involved in the IDM. Michael Müller, Head of the Two-Wheeler Division for DACH & DK at Pirelli, comments: “The competitive level within the IDM has developed very positively in recent years, and Pirelli is pleased to support this natural evolution in the EURO MOTO concept. As the series’ exclusive tire partner, we will not only provide the support we’re known for on and off the track, but also bring our R&D expertise to our partnership and maintain the high level of performance and quality that has always distinguished our tires.”

Uwe Geyer, Head of Customer Racing and Head of Marketing at BMW MOTORRAD Motorsport: “The IDM has always been one of the most important championships for the BMW MOTORRAD customer racing program. It’s a series featuring a very strong field of international riders that offers high-class and exciting racing. At BMW Motorrad Motorsport, we’re delighted that it’s now receiving the recognition it deserves and is being elevated to a European level as the Euro Superbike Series. We see this as a great platform for young talent from all over Europe and, in the future, a stepping stone to higher classes such as the FIM Superbike World Championship.”

The 2026 calendar for the EURO MOTO and the concurrently held IDM features seven race weekends—with established venues such as the Sachsenring, Oschersleben, Assen (NL), Most (CZ), the Nürburgring, and the Hockenheimring. A new addition is the historic World Championship circuit in Brno, Czech Republic. The Schleizer Dreieck is no longer part of the series: the natural race track currently lacks international FIM homologation. The regulations for the Superbike class remain largely unchanged, but will undergo some minor refinements. The Supersport and Sportbike classes will be based on the World Championship regulations going forward.

for Superbike, Supersport, and Sportbike

With the launch of EURO MOTO, Motor Presse Stuttgart is expanding its motorsports portfolio starting in 2026. Building on the successful development of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM), EURO MOTO represents the logical next step in advancing European circuit racing across the Superbike, Supersport, and Sportbike categories. The new platform aims to attract a more international field of competitors, increase visibility across key markets, and deliver even more exciting and competitive racing.

Over the past several years, the IDM has evolved into a leading championship in terms of both sporting quality and organizational standards. The performance levels across the Superbike, Supersport, and Sportbike categories have reached a truly international benchmark. “The IDM has proven to be a launchpad for riders with World Championship ambitions,” says Normann Broy, Series Manager and initiator of the project. “With EURO MOTO, we are bridging the gap between the national series and the World Championship by creating a platform where the best riders and teams from around the world can compete.” Motor Presse Stuttgart aims to drive international competitiveness, enhance media visibility, and boost spectator appeal. The inaugural round of the new Championship is scheduled for May 8–10, 2026, at the Sachsenring (GER).

“EURO MOTO aims to bring motorsport to life, both at the track and across digital platforms,” Broy continues. “By internationalizing the series, we are expanding its reach and appeal to teams, manufacturers, sponsors, and fans across Europe.” Manufacturers involved in the IDM have expressed unanimous support and endorsed the evolution toward an international championship. Michael Müller, Head of Motorcycles DACH & DK at Pirelli: “The overall level of riders in the IDM has increased significantly over the past couple of years, and Pirelli is delighted to embrace this natural evolution in the EURO MOTO concept. As the exclusive tire partner, we will continue to offer our well-recognized support on and off the track, maintaining our R&D-oriented strategic approach and the high level of performance and quality that has always distinguished our tires.”

Uwe Geyer, Head of Customer Racing and Head of Marketing at BMW MOTORRAD Motorsport: “As one of the most vital championships for the BMW MOTORRAD customer racing program, the IDM brings together strong international participation and thrilling, top-tier racing. “We are thrilled to see the well-deserved recognition of the series as it is elevated to an international level as the Euro Superbike Series. This development provides an excellent platform for young talents across Europe and serves as a springboard to higher categories like the FIM Superbike World Championship.”

The 2026 calendar for EURO MOTO and the parallel IDM season features seven race weekends at renowned circuits, including the Sachsenring (GER), Oschersleben (GER), Assen (NL), Most (CZ), Nürburgring (GER), and Hockenheimring (GER). Newly added to the schedule is the legendary World Championship circuit in Brno (CZ). The Schleizer Dreieck will no longer be part of the series, as the natural road circuit currently does not hold international FIM homologation, meaning it has not been officially certified to meet the safety and regulatory standards required for international competition. The Superbike regulations will remain largely unchanged, with selective refinements. The Supersport and Sportbike classes will be aligned more closely with World Championship regulations.
