The summer break in the IDM Supersport series Supersport with a major decision by Melvin van der Voort. The 19-year-old Ducati rider from the Netherlands has decided to end his partnership with the Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team effective immediately. According to the team, the split was mutual.

After spending a year in Spain, Van der Voort Supersport his comeback in the IDM Supersport series in 2025, a series he had left as champion in 2023. Riding the Ducati Panigale V2, the rider—currently seventh in the overall standings for the Track & Trades Wixx Racing Team—has not yet achieved the success he had hoped for.

According to the team report, the decision to end the partnership was made following a challenging period, during which the serious crash at the last race in Oschersleben was a turning point. The consequences of the crash are said to have made it financially impossible to continue the IDM season in a responsible manner.

After just four race weekends, “Mella’s” adventure with the team from Harskamp has thus come to a premature end. Van der Voort, who hails from Ede, has mixed feelings. It is unclear what the future holds for his racing career. He turns 20 this coming Sunday and hopes that when one door closes, another will open.
