After the season opener in the new sportbike class, the International German Motorcycle Championship was already over for WSC-Racing by Aprilia. The team from Neuss am Rhein and rider Felix Kauertz parted ways. But this won’t be a one-off. The team will return after the IDM summer break—with Micky Winkler on the Aprilia RS 660.

The unexpected hiatus in the IDM Sportbike series is over. Team boss Roland Matthes has signed a contract with Micky Winkler, who is by no means an unknown quantity. The 23-year-old from Schleiz, Thuringia, began his racing career at the age of eight. The fact that he is available to race is due to a transitional year in which the former IDM Supersport rider intends to reposition himself. For budgetary reasons, he intended to compete only in select races in the Pro Superstock class.

As he heads into the second half of the IDM Sportbike season, Winkler is back in the spotlight. After two days of testing at the Hockenheimring, team boss Roland Matthes is very impressed with his new rider: “I was really impressed by Micky’s professional and calm demeanor. He approached the test systematically and was able to provide very specific feedback on all the changes made to the bike. Plus, Micky was already very fast for his first time out. We’re really looking forward to our debut together at Assen!”

Micky Winkler will compete in two of the final three IDM rounds of 2025 for Team WSC-Racing by Aprilia: at Assen, Netherlands (August 15–17, 2025) and at the season finale at the Hockenheimring (September 26–28, 2025).
