Vor dem letzten IDM-Wochenende kam die Nachricht: Triumph-Pilot Michal Prášek vom Team Motolife, vor dem Abschlusswochenende Achtplatzierter in der Supersport-Klasse, wird nicht am Finale in Hockenheim teilnehmen.
Das Team um Andy Köder hat aber glücklicherweise schnell einen hochkarätigen Ersatzmann in den eigenen Reihen gefunden. Mit Jorn Hamberg bekommt der frisch gekürte Vizemeister der IRRC Supersport die Gelegenheit, seine Premiere in der IDM-Startaufstellung zu feiern. „Jorn hat das ganze Jahr einen sehr guten Job gemacht und musste sich in der IRRC nur knapp seinem Teamkollegen Marek Červený geschlagen geben. Zum Abschluss hat er beim Saisonfinale in Frohburg beide Supersport Rennen gewonnen und ist als Gaststarter in der Superbike im zweiten Rennen Dritter geworden. Nach diesen tollen Ergebnissen haben mein Geschäftspartner Ludek Weag von WRP und ich beschlossen, Jorn auch einen Gaststart in der IDM Supersport zu ermöglichen“, verrät der Teamchef.
Despite being on an unfamiliar motorcycle, the young Dutch rider made a smooth transition from road racing to the permanent circuit right from the first day. “I feel comfortable on the Triumph, but the suspension wasn’t quite right at first. The team had it well under control by the end of the second practice session,” said the IDM rookie, who normally rides a Yamaha.
He’s approaching the weekend with that same level of ambition. “The level in the IDM is significantly higher than in the IRRC, and compared to road racing, cornering speeds here are much faster. However, I only started road racing in 2021 and previously competed in the Dutch championship on traditional race tracks. The style is familiar to me. Therefore, my goal is to post 1:30 lap times and secure a top-ten finish.”
