IDM Sidecar: Pacifier Alert at the Zimmermann House

The sidecar team of Max Zimmermann and Ronja Mahl (Zimmermann Racing/ARS Yamaha) will not be competing at this weekend’s IDM race in Assen. The duo had already withdrawn from the entry list ahead of the event, knowing full well that something very special could happen this weekend. And that is exactly what happened.

Max Zimmermann became a father for the first time this Thursday. “We are overjoyed at the birth of our daughter,” the new dad announced. Little Lisa was born a day early, “but both mother and child are healthy and doing well,” Max Zimmermann added.

Until their next race, Zimmermann and his partner Silvia now have time to enjoy their newfound family happiness away from the racing scene, before he and his passenger Ronja Mahl head to the Sidecar Festival in Oschersleben on October 7 and 8 for the next—and final—round of the season. From then on, Max Zimmermann’s pit area will no longer be just about changing tires—it’ll also be about changing diapers.
