Christian Stange has left Team MVR Racing . Given the conditions he encountered with the Dutch team, the 2016 runner-up in the 600cc class did not want to continue, even though Bryan Schouten had won the title with MVR Racing that year. “Bryan was riding the old Yamaha R6 back then, for which there was plenty of data available,” Stange explains. “There’s none for the new model, but the technicians are also unwilling to compromise with the rider during setup. At the season opener in Oschersleben, I had no data recording, and I even set my fastest lap without the automatic gearbox.” Stange, who finished eighth in the first race and third in the second, is disappointed on the one hand, but also draws a positive conclusion: “I’m grateful to MVR-Racing for the opportunity to tackle another IDM season. They gave me a chance. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work out between us.”

For now, the IDM season is over for 20-year-old Stange. “I would have liked to stay, but the spots on the top teams are filled and there’s nothing more to be done,” he concluded after making numerous phone calls.

What is he doing now? The news was kept under wraps until it was officially announced today: Christian Stange will compete in the Supersport World Championship for Team Go Eleven, effective immediately. To do so, he is switching to the Kawasaki ZX-6R. According to the announcement, he has no experience with the race tracks he will now be facing. According to team manager Denis Sacchetti, he is expected to improve from race to race. Stange’s first race will take place this coming weekend at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” in Italy.
