No sooner had the race weekend at the Nürburgring begun than it was already over for Luis Rammerstorfer (Freudenberg RoRa Paligo Racing). The Austrian crashed on Friday morning during the first free practice session of the EURO MOTO Sportbike and will have to watch from the sidelines for the rest of the weekend.
The practice session had only just begun. After just a short time, his Triumph Daytona 660 began to wobble, and Rammerstorfer fell. In the crash, he hit his head hard and also injured his right forearm.
The medical examinations at least provided some relief. Aside from some bruises on his right forearm, the 21-year-old suffered no other injuries. Nevertheless, continuing the race weekend is out of the question. For Rammerstorfer, the sixth of seven races this season is thus over before it has even really begun.
The setback is particularly frustrating in light of the championship’s top 10. Rammerstorfer arrived at the Nürburgring with 46 points and in 11th place. The path back into the top ten would have been anything but long. Only three points currently separate him from Alexander Weizel and Maksymilian Palmowski, who are in ninth and tenth place, respectively, with 49 points each.
So for now, Rammerstorfer will have to focus on recovering and watching from the sidelines. There’s still one last chance to earn more points this season. The seventh and final race weekend of the 2026 EURO MOTO will take place at the Hockenheimring from September 25 to 27.
