For a long time, there was little news about Oliver Svendsen. The Dane only competed in the season opener of the EURO MOTO at the Sachsenring, riding a Kawasaki in the colors of Uwe Reinhardt’s ERC team. After that, the team initially disappeared from the scene. The plan was to deliberately take the time to bring the Kawasaki up to the desired level of development before returning to racing.
After a break of just under ten weeks, the first joint practice session finally took place two weeks ago. During a four-day test in Oschersleben, the ERC team worked with Svendsen to further develop the motorcycle and prepare for their return to the EURO MOTO.
But that won't be happening now. The 2024 IDM Supersport has called it quits and is ending his season in the EURO MOTO early.
On his Instagram account, the 22-year-old explains the reasons behind his decision to step back: “Over the past few months, I’ve thought a lot about where I stand, where I want to go, and what I need to be able to continue enjoying the sport. The truth is, I’ve reached a point where it no longer feels right to continue down the path I’ve been on.”
Svendsen makes it clear that his decision was not based on a single race, a specific result, or any one person. Rather, it was the result of many months of careful consideration.
“Right now, I need to take a step back, clear my head, and remind myself why I fell in love with this sport in the first place,” the Dane continues. He doesn’t yet know what comes next. “I don’t have all the answers right now, and I’m not going to make any big announcements today. I just know that this is the right decision for now.”
The 22-year-old is currently leaving open the question of whether and when Oliver Svendsen will return to racing.
