He was a regular competitor in the International German Championship. Two years after his last race as a full-time rider in the IDM Superbike series, Philipp “Stone” Steinmayr has died. The 32-year-old Austrian lost his life in a tragic accident on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
FIM Europe confirms that two riders were killed in an accident during Saturday's races at the Alpe-Adria Motorcycle Championship at the Automotodrom Brno.
Despite the immediate response by medical personnel, Philipp Steinmayr succumbed to his injuries. Adrian Rus, a 43-year-old from Romania, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Following the accident, the organizers decided to cancel the entire remaining program for the weekend. This includes the races for Supersport, the Supersport, the Superstock 1000 European Cup, and the Women's European Championship.
The EURO MOTO team—the advanced series of the IDM—extends its sincere condolences to the families, friends, teams, and loved ones of Philipp Steinmayr and Adrian Rus.
Out of respect for the bereaved, no further information will be released at this time.
