One rider is missing from the EURO MOTO Superbike race in Brno: Hannes Soomer (Masteroil Alpha Van Zon BMW). The Estonian is currently fourth overall in the championship after two races. Nevertheless, he is skipping the second round currently taking place in the Czech Republic. Instead, he is replacing injured BMW factory rider Danilo Petrucci in the FIM Superbike World Championship, who is out after a highside crash.
The sixth round of the Superbike World Championship is already underway. The venue is MotorLand Aragón in Spain. BMW factory rider Danilo Petrucci recently suffered a fractured coccyx in a crash at Most, Czech Republic. His recovery is the team’s top priority.
For Soomer, this substitute appearance has consequences. His absence in Brno will set him back significantly in the EURO MOTO Superbike standings. However, the 28-year-old doubts he would have had a chance at the title otherwise. He says it’s currently extremely difficult to win a race in the EURO MOTO series. But he’ll be back in action at Most from June 26 to 28. His participation in the Superbike World Championship at MotorLand Aragón had already been all but confirmed following a test he completed earlier at Misano.
