Things should go well for Marcel Schrötter, even though he would have preferred to have a few more days of testing. That’s what the 33-year-old Bavarian says himself. This coming weekend (May 8–10), the former World Championship rider will embark on yet another new chapter in his career when he makes his debut in the highly competitive EURO MOTO Superbike series at the Sachsenring.

A final test ahead of the season opener a week ago at the Most circuit in the Czech Republic went off without a hitch. On top of that, the Sachsenring is a track that Schrötter knows very well. This has the Upper Bavarian, who rides a BMW M 1000 RR for Team GERT56 by RS Speedbikes, feeling very optimistic. His race number in Germany’s top racing class is “6.”

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how the balance of power plays out in the Superbike class,” says Schrötter, eagerly anticipating the season opener, adding: “For me, practically everything is new: the championship, the paddock, the competitors, the bike, and, in a way, the switch to 1000cc. So far, I’ve settled in well, even though I don’t yet feel 100% comfortable with the bike as it’s used in EURO MOTO. We’ve completed a few test laps and done a good job, but one or two more intensive test days wouldn’t have hurt. The season opener at the Sachsenring suits me well, though. I know the track very well. It would be more difficult if we were starting in Oschersleben, for example. So things should go well. I hope that many fans—not just mine, but those of all the riders—will come to the Sachsenring for the EURO MOTO premiere.”
