After a year in the British Superbike Championship (BSB), Jorke Erwig is returning home and will race for Eder Racing in the EURO MOTO Supersport series in 2026.
A mixed year at Kawasaki had prompted the now 20-year-old racer from Gescher in Münsterland to venture afar for a year. He learned a lot during this time: "Many new racetracks, a completely different atmosphere, full starting grids, elbow-to-elbow battles, the Ducati V2 Panigale."
Decision based on reason
However, following the Supersport, Erwigs’ Dutch team switched classes and will now compete in the Sportbike World Championship. “We therefore had discussions with other teams, but the logistical challenges would have been even greater. I live just 20 kilometers from the Dutch border, and so far everything has been manageable. Now it wouldn’t have worked out anymore. On top of that, I’m starting an apprenticeship or a degree program in August. That would have meant I would have missed four race weekends in the BSB.”
Erwig will also be riding a Ducati V2 Panigale for the Eder Racing Team. "Jorke seems very mature and thinks things through carefully," said team boss Thomas Eder after the first rollout. "We rode a training motorcycle on kart tracks in Spain, and he rode the Ducati for a day on the Grand Prix circuit in Valencia. We had a lot of fun, but when it came down to business, we worked hard. That worked out well. I think he can develop well in our family environment."
Eder himself will once again be unstoppable in 2026. Just like last year, the Bavarian rider will be making guest appearances in the Supersport. The season kicks off from May 8 to 10 at the Sachsenring.
