Saying goodbye is painful, but after every farewell there is always a new beginning. Even after the death of Karsten "KW" Wolf, the future of Team GERT56 in the EURO MOTO Superbike is secure.

On January 17, 2026, team boss Karsten Wolf passed away at the age of just 61 after a short serious illness. His funeral will take place on Monday, February 16, 2026. His team will continue in the new EURO MOTO Superbike series, just as he would have wanted. Team GERT56 will be led by Ronny Schlieder, Holger Homfeldt, Toni Finsterbusch, and Johannes Bornemann. As planned, Toni Finsterbusch, Jan-Ole Jähnig, and newcomer Marcel Schrötter will compete on the BMW M1000 RR. As "KW" so aptly put it: "Letters are given up, not races."
