Markus Reiterberger, a four-time IDM Superbike champion, will return to the paddock he has called home for years in 2026 as part of the Masteroil-Alpha-Van Zon-BMW team. The 31-year-old Bavarian is one of the leading figures in the new EURO MOTO series.
The last time Markus “Reiti” Reiterberger competed in a full IDM season, he claimed his fourth IDM title in 2022 and then turned his attention to other projects. For his comeback with Werner Daemen’s team and supported by BMW Germany, he outlines his goal very clearly: “To win another championship title with the BMW M1000 RR. I think that’s also the reason why Werner and the team asked me to race again.”
Despite his recent achievements—he won the Asia Road Racing Championship in 2023—he has always kept an eye on the former IDM, which is now embarking on a new chapter as the even more international EURO MOTO, and says: “There were years when victories were easier to come by. But now it’s really tough. It’s a completely new challenge for me.”
Reiterberger is heading into his 15th season with BMW. “I had a good offer to switch brands for 2026, but BMW has really supported me. I hope we can continue our partnership for many years to come.”
Hannes Soomer, Jan Mohr, and Milan Merckelbagh have been confirmed as his teammates. “I’m really looking forward to working with Markus again,” says Werner Daemen, who serves not only as team principal but also as Reiterberger’s manager. In the Belgian’s view, Soomer is also among the title contenders. The Estonian secured two wins last season and finished third overall in the IDM Superbike championship.
