Anyone walking through INTERMOT in Cologne today and tomorrow should expect to see a lot of IDM riders. The championship celebration is taking place at the motorcycle show. One former champion and runner-up won’t be there: superbike rider Florian Alt. He’s testing in Spain.

The multiple IDM runner-up and 2023 champion is currently in Valencia. The 29-year-old is on the track riding a Honda CBR 1000 RR-R for the Holzhauer Racing Promotion team, for which he has secured three wins and six additional podium finishes in the IDM Superbike series this year. The plan is to test motorcycle parts that need to be produced as quickly as possible in order to be ready for use. “This had to happen this year,” says team boss Jens Holzhauer. The date could not be postponed.

If it were up to him, Honda would head into next year’s IDM Superbike season with current runner-up Florian “Flo” Alt leading the charge. That, at any rate, is what Holzhauer hopes for, and he wonders: “Why would you want to end something that’s capable of winning?”
