Expectations were high, but even after a promising start at the IDM season opener in Oschersleben, the WSC-Racing by Aprilia & Racefoxx team from Neuss has withdrawn from the new sportbike class for the remainder of the season.
“Unfortunately, unexpected high costs and unfortunate incidents during the test phase mean we can’t look forward to a relaxed rest of the season. We have therefore mutually agreed with our rider not to continue under these circumstances,” explains team manager Roland Matthes with disappointment, having pulled the emergency brake after the crash budget had already been exhausted. Nevertheless, he does not want to rule out a return to the series. “We are basically ready, but the costs must be covered.”
The WSC Racing Team had finished in the top ten twice at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben with Felix Kauertz on the Aprilia RS 660. In the second race, the 23-year-old rider from Kevelaer had secured a solid sixth-place finish. Now, the 2024 Yamaha R7 Cup runner-up finds himself without a team.
