Andreas Kofler is the defending champion in the IDM Supersport class, has a career plan, and is getting a new sparring partner. The Yamalube Motorsport Kofler team has signed 21-year-old Marvin Siebdrath from Saxony.

This finally puts an end to the back-and-forth over Siebdrath and secures the Saxon rider a spot on the team. After all, he is the 2022 IDM Supersport , and as a newcomer to the class, he earned his first Supersport last year at Oschersleben.

The Wildenfelser rider has followed a career path similar to that of the two Kofler brothers, with stints in Spain and the IDM, and—like the two Upper Austrians—is part of the Yamaha bLU cRU program. “I’m feeling very confident heading into the new season,” said the German, who finished the season in 12th place overall. After his injury, in which he broke three ribs, things came to a standstill.

Siebdrath and defending champion Andreas Kofler have known each other for a long time. “That brings us together, and in Marvin we’ve found a very strong rider for our team,” says the 20-year-old happily. Kofler will be entering his fifth IDM season in 2025, but for the first time as the defending champion. He’s not taking the job lightly. “I was actually the one being chased right from the first race last year,” he recalls, adding, “so in that respect, the pressure hasn’t changed much. Last season was truly sensational; we invested an enormous amount of time and money to put together such a professional team. Winning the title was, of course, the highlight. But we know how hard we had to work for it.” Andreas Kofler is the first Austrian to win an IDM title since 2017. In his home country, he was recently named “Motorsports Personality of the Year.”

Wim Vermeulen, Marketing Manager at Yamaha Motor Europe, looks ahead. “The long-term plan with Andreas is for him to race in the Supersport on a Yamaha in 2027. In 2025, he can really only have one goal, and that is to dominate the IDM and win every race. We’re heading into our final season with the R6 in 2025 and have a new official partner in Ten Kate Racing Products, who will supply us with the best equipment and help us improve the bike even further. The key benchmarks for Andreas will be his lap times at World Championship circuits like Assen and Most, where he still needs to shave off a few tenths to match the pace of the top three riders in the World Championship.”
