In the 2025 season, the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) will become even more diverse. Aprilia is joining the new IDM Sportbike class as a partner, building on a long history of success with Aprilia Racing. The brand from Noale, Italy, has won 54 world championship titles in racing—a success story written on the racetrack. With the Aprilia RS 660, that legacy is set to continue in the IDM as well.
The future belongs to the new sportbike class. It will replace the Supersport in the IDM. The motorcycles in this class are significantly more relevant in the market than those with smaller engine displacements, with which Aprilia has enjoyed tremendous success and for which it can count on some of the biggest names in racing history—such as Max Biaggi—as brand ambassadors.
“With Aprilia joining the IDM Sportbike class, the championship isn’t just gaining a new partner. The increased variety of brands is creating a whole new level of competition! We’re very pleased that we’ve been able to get Aprilia on board for the IDM,” says Normann Broy, Head of Motorsport at IDM promoter Motor Presse Stuttgart.
“We are very happy to be part of the IDM thanks to the team at one of our Aprilia dealerships, and we’re looking forward to some intense races on the track. The RS 660 has racing in its DNA, so we’re confident it will perform well in the sportbike class!” – Massimiliano Gerbi, Country Manager at Piaggio Germany.
