The 2025 season will see the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) become even more colorful. Aprilia is joining the new IDM Sportbike class as a partner and can look back on a long history of success with Aprilia Racing. The brand from Noale, Italy, has won 54 world championship titles in racing, a success story that was written on the racetrack. With the Aprilia RS 660, it aims to continue this success in the IDM.
The future belongs to the new sport bike class. It will replace the Supersport 300 in the IDM. The bikes raced have a much higher market relevance than smaller displacement machines, with which Aprilia has been extremely successful and can count on the biggest names in racing history, such as Max Biaggi, as Aprilia brand ambassadors.
"With Aprilia joining the IDM Sportbike, the championship is not only gaining a new partner. The increased brand diversity is creating a whole new competitive landscape! We are very pleased that we have been able to get Aprilia excited about the IDM," says Normann Broy, Head of Motorsport at IDM promoter Motor Presse Stuttgart.
"We are very happy to be part of the IDM thanks to the team at one of our Aprilia dealers and are looking forward to some intense races on the track. The RS 660 has racing in its DNA, so we are confident that it will perform well in the sportbike class!" – Massimiliano Gerbi, Country Manager at Piaggio Germany.
