The transfer merry-go-round keeps spinning. Dutch rider Ruben Bijman, who most recently competed for Team Freudenberg KTM PALIGO Racing in the IDM Supersport class, is switching teams. The 21-year-old runner-up has joined the Molenaar Racing Team and will now ride a Honda CBR 600 RR in the higher-tier Supersport Generation class.
Bijman bid farewell to the junior 300cc class with a victory, seizing his final opportunity to do so at the very last moment. At the IDM Grand Final in Hockenheim, he defeated champion Oliver Svendsen by 0.146 seconds in the 14th race of the season.
Bijman is now racing under the colors of Arie Molenaar Motors and Nutec. After five years in the IDM Supersport , the Molenaar Racing Team has also moved up a class.
Ruben Bijman first got involved in motorsports at the age of nine. He raced in the minibike class, moved up to the Molenaar NSF100 Cup a year later, and finished fourth overall in 2016. Other highlights: ADAC Northern Europe Cup Moto3, European Talent Cup Moto3, Supersport . Over the past two years, Bijman has competed in both the World Championship and the IDM Supersport .
Team manager Thom Molenaar says: “In our first season in Supersport , we Supersport grow as a team. Honda demonstrated last year in several championships that the brand can be a force to be reckoned with, so we’re going all out.”
