The German Motorcycle Road Racing Championship has been held since 1924. Riders from all over the world compete for glory and honor. Stars such as Dieter Braun, Ernst Degner, and, more recently, Alexander Hofmann, Stefan Bradl, Dario Giuseppetti, Jack Miller, and Marcel Schrötter used the championship to lay the foundation for their international careers.
The DMSB has dedicated a podcast to the series in honor of its 100th anniversary. In the October episode, IDM series manager Norman Broy and DMSB Vice President Hans-Robert Kreutz join Oli Sittler to discuss the series’ long history, personal experiences, and the future of the IDM and motorcycle racing in Germany.
They talk about highlights, and Broy mentions that during the difficult year of 2020, marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, the IDM was one of the few championships worldwide that managed to put together a season. It was a massive undertaking. Four races were held within five weeks. But it also helped ensure the series’ survival.
A lot has changed and evolved over the past 100 years. Life 100 years ago is no longer comparable to life today. Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Podcast Index, and Amazon Music.
