With the opening round of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) at the Sachsenring, the Supersport 300 class is also kicking off its new season. New to the junior class this year is Swedish rider Emil Tägtlund. He is now looking to get a taste of international racing.
After four guest appearances in the IDM, the 20-year-old from Hedemora was certain: “The IDM will take me to the next level,” says Tägtlund, explaining his decision to compete as a full-time rider this year. In a way, he is following in his father’s footsteps, who also competed in several races in Germany in the early 1990s. Even 20 years later, the passion for racing has not faded in the Tägtlund family. Tägtlund will be accompanied by his father and grandfather at the season opener at the Sachsenring.
Emil Tägtlund’s racing career began at the age of four on a motocross bike, after which he switched to mini road bikes. He has been competing regularly in races since he was 14. In 2022 and 2023, he competed in the Swedish Championship before deciding to join the IDM. The trained CNC miller has set a goal for himself this year to learn as much as possible and to use the IDM as a springboard for his professional racing career.
