The driver rotation in the International German Championship (IDM) is in full swing. The Molenaar Racing Team is shaking things up for the 2024 IDM Supersport season. Loris Veneman is joining, Senna van den Hoven is staying, and Sven Doornenbal is leaving. And Thom Molenaar, who finished 11th overall in 2023, is now serving as team manager.

The 17-year-old Dutchman has previously competed in the Supersport , where he has stood on the podium several times. The son of a race car driver even managed to secure a victory. When the IDM made a stop in Assen, he joined the Molenaar Racing Team on the spot—and promptly won a race with the green “27.” The foundation was laid for a full IDM season on the Kawasaki Ninja 400, even though Veneman’s priority for 2024 remains the World Championship.

With World Championship drivers regularly competing, the level of competition in the junior class is extremely high. Senna van den Hoven, who scored 31 points last season and finished 19th overall, is expected to thrive in this environment. The 20-year-old from Achterfeld is heading into his second season with Molenaar; he’s tenacious and pushes himself to the limit in every race.

After four years with the Molenaar Racing Team, Sven Doornenbal is moving on. He will be remembered for his many top-ten finishes in the IDM and his wildcard appearances in the WSSP 300.

Thom Molenaar, too, looks back on a career that he concluded in 2023 with an 11th-place finish in the IDM—a career that took him to the Molenaar NSF100 Cup, the Yamaha R3 Cup, the IDM Supersport , and even the Supersport as a wildcard rider. He’ll never forget how his home crowd celebrated him when he finished third at the IDM in Assen in 2022. With that background, he’s switched sides and taken on the role of manager.
