The driver lineup in the International German Championship (IDM) is changing. The Molenaar Racing Team is shaking things up for the 2024 IDM Supersport 300 season. Loris Veneman is joining, Senna van den Hoven is staying, and Sven Doornenbal is leaving. And Thom Molenaar, who finished 11th overall in 2023, is now serving as team manager.
The bar is set high in the IDM Supersport class. With the signing of Loris Veneman, the Molenaar Racing Team is gearing up for the challenge. The 17-year-old Dutch rider has previously competed in the Supersport 300 World Championship, where he has stood on the podium several times. The son of a race car driver even managed to secure a victory. When the IDM made a stop in Assen, he joined the Molenaar Racing Team on the spot—and promptly won a race with the green “27.” The foundation was laid for a full IDM season on the Kawasaki Ninja 400, even though Veneman’s priority in 2024 remains the World Championship.
With World Championship drivers regularly competing in the series, the level of competition in the junior class is extremely high. Senna van den Hoven, who scored 31 points last season and finished 19th overall, is expected to thrive in this environment. The 20-year-old from Achterfeld is entering his second season with Molenaar; he is tenacious and pushes himself to the limit in every race.
After four years with the Molenaar Racing Team, Sven Doornenbal is moving on. He will be remembered for his many top-ten finishes in the IDM and his wildcard appearances in the WSSP 300.
Thom Molenaar also looks back on a career that he concluded in 2023 with an 11th-place finish in the IDM, a career that took him to the Molenaar NSF100 Cup, the Yamaha R3 Cup, the IDM Supersport 300, and even the Supersport 300 World Championship as a wildcard rider. He will never forget how his home crowd celebrated him when he finished third at the IDM in Assen in 2022. With this background, he has switched sides and accepted the role of manager.
