Right now, the world’s best motorcycle racers are competing at the Red Bull Ring in the Austrian Motorcycle Grand Prix. That’s exactly where the young talents of the newly launched KTM Junior Cup powered by ADAC—which was unveiled today in Styria—hope to be in the future.

The new racing series is part of DORNA’s “Road to MotoGP” program and will launch in 2024: “We are very pleased that the Road to MotoGP is expanding in an area that is important to us, namely Northern and Central Europe. The new KTM Junior Cup powered by ADAC is the missing link between the MiniGP grassroots level and the Northern Talent Cup,” explained Carlos Ezpeleta, Dorna Sports Chief Sporting Officer, during the press conference at the Red Bull Ring.

The 2024 KTM Junior Cup race calendar features five race weekends as part of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM). The season opener will take place at the Red Bull Ring.

The series is designed for talented young riders between the ages of 14 and 21. What began with its predecessor, the Austrian Junior Cup, is now being expanded even further across the entire German-speaking world with the support of the ADAC. “With the KTM Junior Cup, we are creating an attractive entry-level class,” says ADAC Sport President Dr. Gerd Ennser.

The bikes used are standard KTM RC4 R models equipped with 250cc four-stroke engines. A bike that the Upper Austrian motorcycle manufacturer developed specifically for young riders. It has proven itself over the past three years in the Austrian Junior Cup. According to Hubert Trunkenpolz, CMO of KTM AG, the KTM RC4 R is “one of the most competitive entry-level race bikes, and all race events are held in Germany or Austria on FIM-approved race tracks!”

BG Sportpromotion is responsible for organizing and running the junior racing series in close collaboration with KTM Austria and the ADAC.
