There’s a new female rider in Assen. When the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) visits Assen, Netherlands, from August 18 to 20, Australian rider Tara Morrison will make her debut for Team FÜSPORT – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki. She will be riding a Kawasaki Ninja 400. For the 20-year-old, this will be her first race in a European country.
Morrison expressed her delight at the opportunity to race at Assen. “Wow, that’s all I can say! Racing at the ‘Cathedral of Grand Prix’ is a dream come true. I’m going to use this time to learn as much as possible, expand my racing experience, and take part in some of the best races in the world. I’m very grateful to the RT Motorsport by SKM team for giving me this chance to race in Europe and see how a top-tier team operates,” said the Kawasaki rider, who plans to expand her racing career in Europe in the future.
Tara Morrison is currently ranked fourth in the Victorian & South Australian Road Race Championship and is also proving her skills in the ASBK Championship. But she has already achieved several successes in recent years. For example, she secured a podium finish at the “Two Hours of the Cafnix Club” and won the Natalie Van Der Heiden Women’s Cup in both 2021 and 2022.
For Rob Vennegoor, team manager at RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki, Tara Morrison’s participation also holds special significance. “I am happy and proud that we can give Tara the opportunity to race in Europe. It’s especially nice that she is being supported by David Johnson, with whom it all began for me in 2005. The fact that we are working together again is something special,” Vennegoor said in response to the news.
