Dustin Schneider left everyone in awe at the IDM season opener at the Sachsenring. With a victory in the first race and a sixth-place finish in the second, the rookie exceeded everyone’s expectations and made a perfect debut in the Supersport 300.
Securing a victory right in the very first race is the goal of many riders. For Dustin Schneider, it worked out right away—albeit unexpectedly. “Before the season, I had absolutely no idea how I’d fare in the Supersport 300,” the 16-year-old reveals, adding, “The fact that I’d end up on the winner’s podium right away was a complete surprise even to me.” A cool head and a good eye for the right moment were the decisive factors in the final lap that ultimately crowned him the winner.
The KTM rider heads into this weekend’s IDM race in Oschersleben in second place in the overall standings. The rider from Adorf in the Vogtland region brings with him a great deal of motivation and confidence, which he gained at the Sachsenring. He has also set a new benchmark. “My goal is no longer just to make it into the top 10, but to be up front in every race,” says the newest addition to the Freudenberg KTM-Paligo Racing team. The circuit in the Magdeburg Börde region plays right into his plans, as Dustin Schneider has fond memories of it: “Last year, I finished third here in the Northern Talent Cup. I enjoy riding this track,” says the rider from Adorf. Only his rivals—Iñigo Iglesias, Walid Khan, Marvin Siebdrath, and others—could throw a wrench in his plans.
The first race will take place on Saturday, June 3, at 4:50 p.m. and will be broadcast live and free of charge on the IDM stream at www.idm.de/live. On Sunday, the race starts at 1:15 p.m.
