There are just three months to go until the start of the IDM season at the Sachsenring, the first of seven events in 2023. Behind the scenes, preparations have been in full swing for quite some time. Starting now, riders competing in the spotlight for the coveted championship points can register for Germany’s premier road racing series.
It's really simple: just click the button on the official website www.idm.de Click "Participant Information" And here we go. The link is valid for all participants in the IDM Superbike, Supersport Next Generation, and Supersport 300 classes. Riders interested in the Pro Superstock 1000 and Twin Cup classes are also in the right place here, as are young motorsport talents looking to compete in the Northern Talent Cup and Austrian Junior Cup races.
To participate in the races of the 2023 season, you must hold an internationally valid license from the DMSB (Deutscher Motor Sport Bund e.V.) or an internationally valid license issued by your home federation, as well as a foreign racing permit.
This racing season is shaping up to be a colorful one. More and more riders from abroad are seeing the IDM as a promising platform to establish themselves on the national stage or prepare for an international career. One reason for this is that an increasing number of motorcycle brands and other partners are supporting the series. They are its backbone.
“Welcoming new partners not only makes the series more diverse, but also more entertaining and exciting for the riders on the track, as well as for the spectators in the stands,” says IDM Series Manager Normann Broy. “Above all, it demonstrates the appeal of our championship. The top contenders in the individual classes are competing at a world championship level. The competitive standard is very high,” he adds, continuing: “We regularly have World Championship guests at the start, and they are usually very surprised by the level of performance they find here.” Motor Presse Stuttgart has raised the IDM to a new competitive level over the past six years.
For riders like Markus Reiterberger, Jonas Folger, Marcel Schrötter, and Jack Miller, the IDM served as a springboard to internationally successful careers, enabling them to make the leap to the world stage. Some of them even returned to the series later on because it offers them the ideal environment for balanced training at an international level.
