100 Years of the Schleizer Dreieck – Germany’s oldest natural race track will celebrate its anniversary in June 2023. For many years, this iconic track has been a major draw for spectators and the highlight of the IDM calendar. Germany’s premier motorcycle road racing series attracted over 30,000 fans to Thuringia this year alone.
With 13 events over 17 days, the 100th anniversary of the still-active racetrack is now being celebrated. From June 2 to 18, 2023, there will be events that motorsports fans and the residents of Schleiz won’t want to miss. In addition, numerous other activities are planned to mark the anniversary.
The Schleizer Dreieck was first used on June 10, 1923, for what was known as a “fuel test.” That day is therefore considered the racetrack’s founding date, and since then it has hosted a wide variety of motorsports events, themed gatherings, concerts, and events of all kinds. The festival weeks are intended to reflect and showcase the versatility of the venue over the past 100 years.

Opening of the exhibition “100 Years of the Schleizer Dreieck” in the former start-finish building

A historic racing event featuring exhibition runs by motorcycles and automobiles, as well as former and active drivers from various eras. In addition, historic starts will be reenacted on Saturday at the Weidmannsruh restaurant. Following this, a parade of all participants is planned to Schleizer Neumarkt, featuring a presentation, photo opportunities, food stands, and, if applicable, extended store hours. On Sunday, after the program concludes on the track, another parade will take place along the original, historic Schleizer Dreieck circuit. On Saturday evening, guests of honor will be introduced in the paddock. An evening event and a closing fireworks display are also planned.

Vehicle meet at the Schleizer Dreieck featuring tractors, all kinds of race cars, East German vehicles, trucks, and more. There will also be a soapbox race, as well as karting, mini-bike, and pocket bike rides. Presentations and a stage program will round out the two-day event. In addition, motorsports expert Lenz Leberkern will be presenting his book this weekend.
The weekend events are rounded out by evening activities, a vendor area, fireworks, driver presentations, and other supporting events. Camping is available at the Schleizer Dreieck throughout the entire duration of the festivities.
Advance sales of the “Race” combo ticket begin on the Christmas market weekend, November 25–27. During the first sales phase, which runs through December 23, the ticket costs 66 euros and includes admission to the events on June 2–4 and June 10–11, 2023, including access to the paddock, grandstands, and the Race Party. The ticket is available at the “Alte Münze” city information center and can also be mailed to you.
