Nach sechs Jahren in der IDM Supersport 300 hat Troy Beinlich seinen Vater Knut überreden können, dass er jetzt in der höheren Supersport-Klasse besser aufgehoben sei. Die Überzeugungsarbeit trägt Früchte.
“After racing a 600cc Yamaha in the German Endurance Cup at Most and Oschersleben, my dad said I should go for it,” says the 20-year-old from Pößneck, laughing: “But he would have liked to see me stay on the Kawasaki Ninja 400 in the lower class a little longer.” The Team Roto-Store BRT Vitori rider had his most successful season in 2017, when he secured three wins in the then-new junior league and finished third in the standings. In 2022, he finished ninth overall.
Troy wants to move up to a higher class, with more displacement and more speed. The condition for moving up has been met. “The prerequisite was that I sell the Kawasaki. It worked out. The bike is gone. A rider from the Yamaha R3 Cup bought it and plans to use it to move up to the IDM.”
2023 wird Troy nun also in der Klasse fahren, in der sein sieben Jahre älterer Bruder Christoph schon lange zum Stammpersonal gehört. Droht jetzt Konkurrenz aus dem eigenen Stall? „Ich bin noch nie mit ihm in der selben Klasse gefahren“, gibt der Supersport-Rookie preis und fügt hinzu: „Ich denke, dass es eher ein Ansporn ist. Chris findet das sogar richtig gut, denn dann haben wir noch mehr Daten, die uns vorwärts bringen können.“ Troy übernimmt das bisherige Motorrad seines Bruders, für diesen wiederum wird ein nagelneues aufgebaut.
And there’s one thing that’s important to Troy Beinlich: “What I’m most looking forward to is racing against Micky Winkler again. He’s a close friend of mine—we work out together and hang out in our free time. But first, Micky needs to find someone to remove the nail from his thigh. It’s been stuck there since 2019.”
