Max Enderlein has the title in the bag, but the remaining spots in the IDM Supersport standings are still up for grabs. The battle between Luca de Vleeschauwer, Andreas Kofler, and Melvin van der Voort will determine who finishes as runner-up, who takes third place overall, and who has to settle for fourth.
The gap between them in the standings is six and nine championship points, respectively. Melvin van der Voort (Team SWPN) dominated qualifying. Although the Dutchman arrived at Hockenheim with the fewest points compared to his rivals, that is due to the first half of the season. The Yamaha rider didn’t really get going until the second half of the season and even racked up three consecutive wins. Both de Vleeschauwer (Kawasaki Weber-Motos Racing) and Kofler (Kawasaki Schnock Team Motorex) are still chasing that success.
For de Vleeschauwer, the first two laps are crucial. He knows that. The Belgian says, “I have to fight for my position there. I’ve also been practicing my starts.” Andreas Kofler is particularly good at this: “Last year I often fell back afterward, but this year it’s gone pretty well.” What does he say about the current situation? “Of course I want to be the best, but you can’t force anything.”
Max Enderlein (M32 Racing) won't be getting involved in the battle for the top spots.
