He should not be underestimated: Swiss rider Yves Stadelmann tends to fly under the radar, but his consistent results, combined with an upward trend, are propelling the Yamaha rider from the Kiefer Racing Team further and further up the ranks.
The former motocross rider, who is celebrating his 25th birthday today, says: “The races on the spectacular track in Schleiz in front of packed grandstands were fantastic. It was great to be able to race. After a brief excursion into the grass in the first race, I had to settle for ninth place. In the second race, I set my fastest lap of the weekend and finished eighth. The leading group was only a few tenths of a second faster.” Stadelmann notes: “The overall gap to the top has never been this small.” In the IDM Supersport overall standings, he is already in sixth place—just one point behind Christoph Beinlich and 13 behind the injured Thomas Gradinger.
Stadelmann really hit his stride in 2022. In 2020, he was still competing in the IDM Superstock class. The following year, he finished his rookie season in the IDM Supersport class with ten points in twelve races.
“Yves is riding the Yamaha faster and more confidently,” says team manager Jochen Kiefer, “and he has room to grow. If he picks up where he left off in the next race, he can finish in the top 5 at Assen.”
