IDM SSP 300: Siebdrath storms to pole position

Crosswinds and gusts made it anything but easy for the IDM Supersport 300 riders to battle for pole position during Saturday’s two qualifying sessions at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. In the end, Marvin Siebdrath (Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki) was best able to brave the weather conditions. The Kawasaki rider clocked the fastest lap time of 1:36.304 minutes. He will start from pole position in the following two races. “I knew I had a good setup and could be fast as a result. It’s going to be an exciting race,” said Siebdrath. The first race begins this Saturday afternoon at 4:50 p.m.

Behind Siebdrath, the KTM-Freudenberg trio is champing at the bit. From second place, rival Scott Deroue (Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing) will launch an attack. The newest addition to the Freudenberg team is considered an “old hand” in the squad and has previously competed in the Supersport 300 World Championship. Like Siebdrath, he is also considered a contender for the title. Behind Deroue, his two teammates, Leo Rammerstorfer and Walid Khan, have positioned themselves. It won’t be easy for title favorite Marvin Siebdrath to hold his own against three KTMs at once.

Hungarian rider Mate Smazado (Hungarian Racing Engineering Team) will start from the third row, alongside German rider Troy Beinlich (Roto-Store BRT), who already got off to a strong start to the season at the Lausitzring. Jorke Erwig (Füsport-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki) also made it into the top 10 on the starting grid for the second time. He will start the race from eighth position. The 17-year-old already shone at the season opener two weeks ago and stood on the podium in third place after the second race.

Defending champion Lennox Lehmann (Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing) will not be competing at Oschersleben. The Dresden native will be racing in Portugal in the Supersport 300 World Championship this weekend.

The first Supersport 300 race will take place this Saturday at 4:50 p.m., and the second on Sunday at 1:15 p.m. All races will be broadcast live for free at www.idm.de.
