In the opening and first sprint race of the IDM Sidecar series at the Lausitzring, Markus Schlosser and Marcel Fries (Team Schlosser/LCR F1, 600 cc) finished ahead of Tim Reeves and Kevin Rousseau (Bonovo Action Team/Adolf RS F1, 600 cc). For rookie Lennard Göttlich, the race ended in last place after a driving error.

Tim Reeves got off to a blistering start and managed to pull a few meters ahead of his closest rival, Markus Schlosser, early on. After the first two laps, Schlosser seemed to have found his rhythm and began putting increasing pressure on the leaders, Reeves and Rousseau. The Swiss rider stayed close on the Brit’s tail until he passed Reeves with two laps to go and was unstoppable from there. The reigning sidecar world champion pulled away by over three seconds before crossing the finish line. “Apart from the start, everything went great today, and it was a perfect start to the season for us,” said Schlosser after the race.

Behind the second-place finishers Reeves/Rousseau, Germans Josef Sattler and Luca Schmidt crossed the finish line in third place (Bonovo Action Team/Adolf RS F1, 600 cc). The 2021 IDM champions had no chance of keeping up with the leaders in the first race, but held their own confidently against their pursuers. “We weren’t able to prepare optimally for the start of the season because Luca has been having problems with his hand. That makes us all the more satisfied with a podium finish,” Sattler summed up.

Max Zimmermann and his co-driver Ronja Mahl (Team Zimmermann/Adolf RS) finished in fourth place, followed by Estonians Eero Pärm and Lauri Lipstok (Pärm Racing Team/ASR). Rookie Lennard Göttlich (Bonovo Action Team/Adolf RS F1, 600 cc) had a bitter pill to swallow: After a good start, the duo initially moved into fifth place, but Göttlich then made a driving error and ended up in the gravel. Although the team was able to continue, they could not finish any higher than last place.

The second race starts on Sunday at 4:35 p.m. and will be streamed live for free at www.idm.de/live.
