IDM SSP 600: Till Belczykowski Gets Serious

Allow me to introduce myself: Till Belczykowski. The Duisburg native aims to score points in the Supersport on a new Yamaha in 2022. Text: Anke Wieczorek; Photos: Dino Eisele

Till Belczykowski competed as a guest rider in the Superstock 600 Cup at Assen and the IDM finale in Hockenheim. His results in the four races he completed: two podium finishes. The Duisburg native received trophies, but as a guest rider, he didn’t earn any points. That’s set to change. In 2022, the 17-year-old high school graduate will set out to earn championship points. He wants to secure a permanent spot in the IDM Supersport class—one step up from where he is now. A new Yamaha R6 is on the horizon, “but I don’t know yet whether I’ll join an existing team or if we’ll do everything on our own,” says Belczykowski.

Last season, he had several opportunities to watch his MVR teammate,Supersport Kevin Wahr, in action. And just like the IDM champion, Belczykowski battled his opponents lap after lap for podium spots in the Cup class, ultimately finishing third.

Belczykowski’s first forays into racing began at the age of five on a pocket bike, continued in the Dutch Championship, and are now set to be honed in the IDM.
