IDM SBK 1000: What's next for Marc Moser?

By the end of the season, he was the only IDM Superbike rider left on the Bonovo Action by MGM Yamaha Racing Team, but it doesn’t look like Marc Moser will be returning next year. Although the team has not yet officially announced its withdrawal from the series, Moser has been looking for a new team since the end of the season.

A season-opening win at Oschersleben, pole position at Most, third place at Assen, and ultimately ninth in the overall standings. Moser wants more and is pulling strings everywhere. He says he happened to strike up a conversation with Kawasaki team boss Emil Weber purely by chance. But a closer look at Moser’s past makes it clear that he hasn’t quite made peace with the motorcycle brand yet. “I hit a personal low point in my career when I had to endure my worst season in the Superstock 1000 European Championship on a Kawasaki in 2017.” That stings. The Dieburg native raced in the class for six years, competing in 39 races and scoring points 14 times, but only once in the 2017 season. In 2019, he made his mark in the IDM Superbike 1000.

After three years, Moser wants to remain in Germany's top league and is open to all possibilities. He has also put out feelers in the FIM Endurance World Championship, but so far, no contract negotiations have taken place.

The former Yamaha rider is using this break from racing to focus on his studies. If all goes according to plan, the Hesse native will have earned his master’s degree in Corporate Performance & Restructuring by 2022.
