The final and decisive race in the battle for the championship had it all: thrills, surprises, and suspense right down to the last thousandth of a second. Two KTM riders emerged as winners in their own right. Dirk Geiger (Freudenberg KTM WorldSSP Team/19) won the race in a photo finish ahead of Luca De Vleeschauwer (Füsport–RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki/18). And Lennox Lehmann (Freudenberg KTM WorldSSP Team/15) became champion in the IDM Supersport 300 for the second time in a row despite a crash.
Lennox Lehmann needed just one more point to secure the title once again. His plan going into the second and decisive race was therefore: just get that one point. But the plan didn't work out.
At the start, teammate Dirk Geiger shot to the front from pole position. Walid Khan (Freudenberg KTM WorldSSP Team/21) made the most of his starting position and moved up from eighth to third place on the very first lap. Leo Rammerstorfer (Freudenberg KTM WorldSSP Team/17), on the other hand, lost front-end grip in the second corner. He crashed.
Lehmann opted for a more cautious approach. The title contender once again wanted to get through the first few laps as safely as possible to avoid any risks. Then, on the third lap, came the surprise: the RC 390 R’s mechanics failed him. The Saxon rider crashed into the gravel trap. From that point on, it was a nail-biter for him, as his main rival, Marvin Siebdrath (Füsport–RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki/17), was still in the race. “At that moment, I was really afraid that I might still lose the championship,” said Lehmann. For that to happen, however, Siebdrath would have had to win the race. Instead, he finished fifth. Lehmann could breathe a sigh of relief and celebrate.
Meanwhile, Dirk Geiger and Luca De Vleeschauwer, who were leading the race, battled for third place in the championship. With a two-second lead over the chasing pack, the two settled the battle between themselves. The battle intensified in the final two corners, culminating in a dramatic photo finish. Race officials declared Geiger the winner. Luca De Vleeschauwer finished second. Micky Winkler (Kawasaki Weber-Motos Racing/19) capped off his successful season with his new team with a third-place finish, followed by guest rider Sasha De Vits (19).
