IDM Sidecar: Schlosser/Fries Start from Pole Position

The tide turned in the second qualifying session of the IDM Sidecar at the Hockenheimring. In summery temperatures and in front of a crowd, Markus Schlosser and Marcel Fries (Team Schlosser/LCR F1, 600 cc) secured pole position. With the fastest lap time of 1:32.351 minutes, the two championship leaders showed their rivals that they are in top form. “We made a few small improvements after the first qualifying session, so everything came together today,” said Schlosser with satisfaction.

Josef Sattler and Luca Schmidt (Bonovo Action Team/Adolf RS F1, 600 cc) were also in top form. After numerous technical issues at Assen and Spielberg, everything went like clockwork for the title contenders at Hockenheim. “We were able to fix the issues and are now back at full throttle. Our goal was to secure a spot on the front row of the grid. We succeeded,” said the Bavarian. Sattler/Schmidt will start from second place, 0.360 seconds behind Schlosser/Fries.

Things didn't go quite as smoothly for Tim Reeves and his passenger Kevin Rousseau (Bonovo Action Team/Adolf RS F1, 600 cc). The World Championship team had dominated the first qualifying session the day before, but was unable to improve its lap times on Saturday. It will start the first race on Saturday evening from third position.

Close behind them will be the Dutch duo Bennie Streuer and Jeroen Remmé (Bonovo Action Team/Adolf RS F1, 600 cc). They missed out on the front row by just 0.048 seconds, followed by the visiting team of Mike Roscher and Anna Burkard (LCR-BMW F1, 1000 cc).

Lucas Wyssen/Thomas Hofer (LCR-Yamaha, 600 cc) will start from the third row. Peter Kimeswenger and Kevin Kölsch (LCR F1, 600 cc) will start from seventh on the grid. Marcus Schwegler and Ondrej Kopecky (LCR F1, 600 cc) secured eighth place. The German-Czech sidecar team currently trails the two IDM leaders, Sattler/Schmidt, in the overall standings.

The first race of the IDM Sidecar series starts at 5:45 p.m. and will be broadcast live at www.idm.de.
