Tim Reeves and Kevin Rousseau (Bonovo Action Team/Adolf RS F1) once again showed who’s boss on the track during the second qualifying session of the Sidecar class at the International German Motorcycle Championship in Assen. Although only a mere 0.103 seconds separated Bennie Streuer/Jeroen Remmé (Bonovo Action Team/Adolf RS F1), the second-fastest team, and world champion Reeves, the Brit was more interested in executing a plan. “We’re using Assen to test and improve a few things,” explained Reeves. The duo, whose focus is currently on the FIM Sidecar World Championship, has no title ambitions in the IDM but appreciates the high level of the IDM Sidecar class. Reeves continued: “In the second qualifying session, we held back a bit to try something out so that we can give it our all in the race.”
Mike Roscher and Anna Burkard will start from third place on the front row. The experienced guest rider duo clocked a perfect lap in their final attempt on their LCR F1-1000cc sidecar, catapulting them into third place.
Things went terribly for Josef Sattler and Luca Schmidt (Bonovo Action Team/Adolf RS F1) once again, however. The championship leaders were forced to return to the pits early in the second qualifying session due to engine problems: “There was oil inside the engine, but we don’t know why yet,” Sattler reported. He couldn’t promise that he would be able to resolve the issue in time for the first race this afternoon. The Bavarian qualified for fourth place on the grid, meaning he’ll start from the second row. Peter Kimeswenger and Kevin Kölsch (LCR F1) will be alongside Sattler and Schmidt.
