Tim Reeves and Kevin Rousseau (Adolf RS F1, 600 cc) made a splash in the first qualifying session of the IDM Sidecar class at Assen. The duo, featuring seven-time world champion Reeves, shot straight to the top of the field with a lap time of 1:45.174 minutes, pushing guest starters Bennie Streuer and Jereon Remmé—riding their Adolf RS F1 sidecar—into second place by just a few hundredths of a second. This marks Reeves and Rousseau’s first appearance in the IDM this year.

Things didn't go quite as smoothly for Josef Sattler and Luca Schmidt (Adolf RS F1, 600 cc) during practice. For the first time, the championship leaders failed to dominate qualifying. They also had to end the first free practice session as early as the second lap due to engine trouble, but managed to get the bike back in working order in time for the first qualifying session. In the end, they finished in third place.

Behind them, the teams of Peter Kimeswenger and Kevin Kölsch (LCR F1, 600 cc) and the well-known 1000 cc guest starters Mike Roscher and Anna Burkard finished in fourth and fifth place.

Despite posting the sixth-fastest time, Wout Vermeule and Jarno Bouius (Adolf RS F1, 600 cc) will not be on the starting line tomorrow. The Dutch duo made a driving error on the fifth lap, causing the sidecar to spin out and eventually roll over. Because Bouius broke his collarbone, the weekend ended for both of them today, Friday.
