Yesterday, Dutch rider Ricardo Brink officially announced his departure from Team BCC after four races in the IDM Superbike 1000. Today, the Heilbronn-based team is introducing a new top rider: Markus Reiterberger. With one exception, the Bavarian rider will return to the IDM Superbike 1000 for the remainder of the season.

The three-time champion of Germany’s premier class, Superstock 1000 European champion, and BMW factory rider will make his debut at the Schleizer Dreieck from July 23 to 25, 2021. The BCC Racing Team is providing him with a BMW S 1000 RR. At the Red Bull Ring and the Hockenheim finale, Reiterberger will ride the new “M” version of the superbike. The 27-year-old will not be competing in the races in Assen, Netherlands. Testing with the BMW factory endurance team, of which Reiterberger is a regular rider, takes priority.

The fact that the former World Superbike rider is currently joining BCC is said to be just the beginning of a longer-term partnership. Team principal Andreas Gerlich, Markus Reiterberger, and his manager Werner Daemen are already discussing possibilities for 2022.

Reiterberger’s return to the IDM in Schleiz, of all places, holds special significance for him: “Schleiz isn’t just my favorite track; the atmosphere created by the fans there is always something special.” He also says: “I have fond memories of my last few years in the IDM. So I’m grateful that BCC Racing is giving me the opportunity to return to the championship. For me, the sprint races are important for getting in some solid training.”
