Alessandro “Alex” Polita is the only Honda rider in the IDM Superbike 1000 class and is currently seventh overall after two rounds. Following an extensive test weekend at the Hockenheimring, the Italian is very optimistic about the upcoming races. One thing is clear: the 37-year-old wants to move up the standings. Anyone who wants to see Polita and his Honda CBR 1000 RR-R live—and perhaps even test ride a few models themselves—should head to the Nürburgring on July 17 and 18, 2021. The premier class of the IDM will be making a guest appearance there as part of the Truck Grand Prix, and it’s one of the highlights of the program.

Alex Polita and the Holzhauer Racing Promotion team from Wittenberge, Brandenburg, have found something. “Something that makes us faster,” explains Jens Holzhauer. “We’ve been developing and producing many parts in-house for the past year and a half—that is, for as long as the new Honda Fireblade has been around. Last weekend, we finally had the chance to test them. Before that, we never had enough time or decent conditions. At Hockenheim, Alex had a clear track.”

Polita drove home in his black T5 van with a smile on his face. This coming weekend at the Nürburgring will show whether that success translates into a good finish.

Take a ride on a Honda yourself—that’s also possible on Saturday and Sunday in the Eifel region. During the event, Honda Germany will have its test ride truck parked in front of the Ring grounds, between the Mercedes Grandstand and the Ring Casino. On board are sport bikes, tourers, and naked bikes. Test rides can be booked online via the Honda website or on-site. They will be led by a local tour guide. Requirements for participation: Presentation of a driver’s license and ID card, completion of a test ride form, motorcycle briefing, and your own motorcycle gear (jacket, pants, helmet, gloves, and boots). Because the Testride Truck is parked in front of the Ring grounds, it is also accessible to riders who do not have a ticket for the event.
