It will remain a one-off appearance this year. Kevin Wahr had actually planned to compete in the entire IDM Supersport 600 season, but COVID-19 and the associated race cancellations thwarted the 2013 champion's plans.

There were even more reasons not to pursue the plan. The best one is called Marlene and is now almost six months old. 31-year-old Kevin Wahr became a father for the first time in the spring. In addition, as an authorized signatory in the family business, he was swamped with work. The company supplies heating oil, pellets, natural gas, electricity, fuels, and lubricants to its customers.

When the IDM round in Hockenheim suddenly became a reality, the Yamaha rider from Calw was itching to get started. He had to compete in his home race. Wahr will be competing for the Dutch mvr team as a guest rider. "A place in the top ten would be desirable," he says, adding, "although I don't really want to finish tenth. Then I could imagine maybe racing a full season again in 2021." Wahr trained at the Hockenheimring for a day before his start. "It felt good."
