With the publication of the classification regulations for 2020, it is now official: the Superstock 600 class will compete under the official IDM classification starting immediately and is open to participants with an A license. The agreement with the DMSB to run the class as a cup series—and thus also make it available to riders with a B license—was valid for two years. The primary goal of this arrangement was to provide a new home for the riders of the Yamaha Cup, which was discontinued in 2017.

With the granting of official championship status, the IDM Superstock 600 is being significantly upgraded and repositioned. What remains is that the races will continue to be held alongside the IDM Supersport field. The classes will be scored separately. The visual distinction will also remain. The new IDM Superstock 600 will feature white numbers on a blue background. The IDM Supersport features blue race numbers on white plates.

The news that an International German Champion will also be crowned in the Superstock 600 class in the future has been very well received by the riders. “I think it’s awesome that young riders will also have the chance to win the IDM title,” says Bastian Ubl, who has registered for 2020. “They can still race on a smaller budget, but with the right results, they can win the championship.”
