With the publication of the 2020 competition regulations, it is now official: the Superstock 600 class will compete under the official IDM designation and is open to participants with an A license. The agreement with the DMSB to run the class as a cup series, thereby also making it available to riders with a B license, was valid for two years. The primary goal of this arrangement was to provide a new home for the riders of the Yamaha Cup, which was discontinued in 2017.
With the granting of official championship status, the IDM Superstock 600 is being significantly upgraded and repositioned. What remains is the joint staging of races with the IDM Supersport 600 field. The classes will be scored separately. The visual distinction will also remain. The new IDM Superstock 600 will feature white numbers on a blue background. The IDM Supersport 600 features blue start numbers on white panels.
The news that an International German Champion will also be crowned in the Superstock 600 class in the future has been met with a lot of enthusiasm among the riders. “I think it’s awesome that young riders will also have the chance to win the IDM title,” says Bastian Ubl, who has registered for 2020. “They can still compete on a smaller budget, but with the right results, they can win the championship.”
