IDM is strengthening its organization with a full-time race director

A familiar face in a new role: Stefan Beck is now the permanent race director.

The organizer and promoter Motor Presse Stuttgart is strengthening the foundation of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) in order to further develop Germany’s premier road racing series to a high professional standard. Starting this season, which begins in early May with the opening round of the premier IDM Superbike 1000 class at the Sachsenring, there will be a permanent Race Director from the German Motor Sport Federation (DMSB) at all championship races. With Stefan Beck from Schleiz, the perfect candidate has now been found for this key role.

“With Stefan Beck, an internationally recognized and experienced race director is taking on this important role. The creation of the position of Race Director takes the professional organization of IDM weekends to a new level,” says series manager Normann Broy. Beck is familiar with the IDM from his role as one of the two permanent chief stewards, a position he has held since 2016. He has also served as race director at individual IDM events. Since 2015, the motorcycle representative for ADAC Hessen-Thüringen has also been race director of the “1000km Hockenheim.”

Stefan Beck holds international FIM licenses as a race director and steward and is a member of the Road Racing Commission at FIM Europe. Incidentally, the 40-year-old motorcycle racing specialist began his career at the age of 15 as a cashier at the Schleizer Dreieck race. Starting in 1996, he worked as a track marshal at his home race; assignments at the Sachsenring, Nürburgring, Lausitzring, and Le Mans soon followed.
