This year, the turnout was modest. Yamaha’s planned initiative to promote young talent—the YZF-R3 bLU cRU Cup as part of the International German Motorcycle Championship—was canceled. The manufacturer plans to make a fresh start in 2020 to get the project off the ground.
bLU cRU – for the past three years, this has been the name of a program aimed at promoting young talent in road and off-road racing. The cup of the same name is set to be held within the IDM Supersport 300 class. In addition to the mandatory IDM standings, there will be a separate cup standings.
According to Yamaha, participants have the chance to be invited to the Europe-wide “Masterclass” talent camp. The top performers from the “Masterclass” will then be accepted into the bLU cRU team for the World Supersport 300 class the following year.
Yamaha Motor Germany plans to offer a race-ready YZF-R3, including a Cup package, to beginners and newcomers alike for €9,999.00 in 2020.
The top finishers have the chance to move up to the Supersport 300 World Championship.
The cup is aimed at riders moving up from the ADAC Mini Bike Cup and the ADAC Junior Cup, as well as newcomers who have not previously been actively involved in motorcycle racing. To help riders obtain the required B license, Yamaha plans to hold an introductory training session led by experienced instructors.
