With a commanding performance, Toni Erhard secured pole position on his KTM at the IDM finale in Hockenheim. With a time of 1:39.448 minutes, the 17-year-old from Saxony was the fastest rider in the IDM Supersport junior class. Erhard holds a commanding lead in the championship. The Kiefer Racing rider is just three points away from the championship title.

But despite his comfortable lead, the KTM rider has his sights firmly set on two wins this season. “I want to have as much fun as possible,” says Erhard. His closest rival is Dutchman Dion Otten. Riding the only Honda in the field, he is the only rider besides Toni Erhard to break the 1:40-minute mark. However, the 15-year-old rider from Assen is already 0.542 seconds off the fastest time.

Otten’s compatriot Kevin Mijwaart also secured a spot on the front row with his Yamaha. With KTM, Honda, and Yamaha, three different brands are represented there for the first time this year. The second row is led by Dutch rider Jan Overbeeke. Following the Yamaha rider is Troy Beinlich on his Kawasaki in fifth place. The 17-year-old up-and-coming rider from Pössneck, who finished third in last year’s championship, only switched to the Ninja 400 during the course of the season.
